Integral Ad Science, which makes tech for media platforms, advertisers and publishers for tracking and data optimisation, was founded in New York in 2009 and since then has become a major contributor to the adtech space.
As explained by Bríd McMahon, the country manager for IAS Ireland, there are numerous opportunities for skilled professionals to find their niche in areas such as data science, software engineering, technical account management, finance, application security and talent acquisition, to name a few.
“The advice I would give to somebody starting out in their tech career,” she told SiliconRepublic.com, “is really knowing your strengths and how to leverage them. Whether that is analytical thinking, problem-solving, technical proficiency, or relationship management, really understand what makes you stand out from the crowd and have those examples ready to speak to those experiences.”

For Paulo da Costa, a senior staff data scientist, his position at IAS has given him the opportunity to network with like-minded and friendly professionals, as well as the chance to engage in mentorship as he enables others to grow their own careers, specifically in the realm of AI and machine learning.
“I also enjoy tackling hard problems and difficult problems that we face here,” he said. The third most important aspect that I enjoy is the fact that I can have an impact, or at least see the impact of the work that we do in production and how that can affect the business as well.”
This is a sentiment shared by his colleague and technical account manager Carrie Mackensie who elaborated upon the skills crucial to personal and professional development within Integral Ad Science.
“One of the most important skills in order to be successful as a technical account manager here at IAS is that you have to have a natural curiosity towards the technology of our products,” said MacKensie. “So you have to keep asking yourself questions as to how the products work and how can I resolve certain technical issues and I believe this natural curiosity doesn’t only benefit me and my career growth, it also benefits the customer.
